Laser Skin Rejuvenation and Wrinkle Treatment
Laser is also used to resurface the wrinkled skin or give a rejuvenating treatment to the face. The collagen of the skin is remodelled by this treatment and it leads to the clinical effect through the alteration of the skin collagen. The skin may appear mildly burnt after this and sun protection with at least 50 SPF is recommended. You may need to be off work for a 2-3 days following this treatment. The result would be visible in about 3 weeks time.
Repeat procedures are required (may be 3-4) to bring the desired effect. The procedures are to be repeated in about a month’s time or more depending on the skin type and the condition being treated.
Laser for moles and scars
CO2 laser is the most popular modality to achieve both of these. For moles, the CO2 laser burns the moles away and leaves no tissue for examination so although you may be contemplating a mole removal by laser, sometimes if the moles look suspicious then the surgeon may decide to remove it surgically. After burning the moles the burnt tissue takes about a week to fall off.
For scars the CO2 laser can be used as a lone modality for modulation or it can be used in sequential treatment with surgery to achieve best results. About 3-4 sessions will be required to achieve the same.
